Backdraft RT2 Grilles

Backdraft RT2 Cobra Grilles

Your RT2.
Every detail counts.

There is nothing subtle about a Backdraft. The grille should look just as deliberate. Start with the RT2 application, choose the details that suit your car, and give that front opening a finish worth a second look.

Cobra-Grille.com offers a dedicated Backdraft RT2 model selection. Use that application when ordering for your RT2, then choose from its available finish, pattern and mounting combinations.

Do not substitute an RT3 or RT4 selection simply because the cars share a manufacturer. Confirm the model from your car’s records or builder information. If you are uncertain, send us the details before placing the order.

Have an RT3 or RT4? See our Backdraft RT3 & RT4 guide.

A grille adds a barrier ahead of the radiator and gives the opening a more considered appearance. Fit and alignment matter: the finished result should sit comfortably with the car’s existing lines.

Choose the character

Keep it dark.
Or bring out the metal.

A grille changes how you read the nose of the car. Decide whether you want a discreet insert or a visible metal detail.

01 / Dark & understated

Black powder coat

Black powder coat draws less attention to the grille itself. It works well when you want the front opening to stay visually dark and the body shape to remain the main event.

02 / Metal on show

Raw brushed aluminum

Raw brushed aluminum puts the material on show. Consider it when you want the grille to read as a distinct detail alongside the other metal finishes on your RT2.

Finish graphics are illustrative. They are not photographs of the product or exact color samples.

Three patterns.
Your choice of detail.

Round (Standard) and Halo/Oval are available in the flat-profile Backdraft RT2 configurations. The new Round (3/8-inch) pattern is available flat or convex, in raw aluminum or black powder coat. Select the pattern on the product page alongside your finish.

Build your grille

An RT2 order starts
with an RT2 selection.

Set the model before the other options. Then choose the look and mounting hardware you want, with current pricing shown on the product page.

Confirm Backdraft RT2 in the Model field before adding the grille to your cart.

  1. Start with Backdraft RT2

The button opens the Grille Kit product with your model in the link. Check the Model field before continuing.

  2. Choose the visible details

Select raw aluminum or black powder coat, then Round (Standard), Halo/Oval or Round (3/8-inch). The 3/8-inch option is available flat or convex.

  3. Finish with the mounts

Choose the standard Glass Reinforced Plastic blocks or the optional Machined Aluminum upgrade. Select upgraded mounts with the kit to avoid buying a separate set unnecessarily.

Read the installation guide →

A car with previous owners may also have previous modifications. Review the nose and mounting area, particularly if a different grille was fitted before. Use the instructions supplied for your configuration as the installation reference.

  • Confirm the kit matches the model you ordered.
  • Protect the paint around the front opening while working.
  • Test the position and alignment before final fastening.
  • Stop and ask if a part needs forcing or the mounting area differs from the instructions.

Different nose? Tell us first.

Body repairs, a reshaped opening or previous custom mounts can affect fitment. Send a straight-on front photo, closer views of the mounting area and any details about the work.

Ask a fitment question →
Do you offer a grille for the Backdraft RT2?

Yes. Select Backdraft RT2 in the Grille Kit product configurator. This page covers the Backdraft RT2 application; confirm that model before choosing the other options.

Can I order an RT3 or RT4 grille for my RT2?

Choose Backdraft RT2 for an RT2. The product lists RT2, RT3 and RT4 separately, so do not assume the applications are interchangeable. Ask us if your car’s model or bodywork is uncertain.

What finishes and patterns can I choose for the Backdraft RT2?

Choose raw aluminum or black powder coat. Round (Standard) and Halo/Oval use a flat profile; the new Round (3/8-inch) option is available flat or convex. Current pricing is shown when you order.

Are aluminum mounting blocks required?

No. Glass Reinforced Plastic is the standard mounting-block selection. Machined Aluminum is the optional upgrade. If you want aluminum mounts with a new grille, select them with the kit instead of also ordering a separate set.

What if the nose or mounting area has been modified?

Contact us before ordering. Include the model, approximate year if known, a straight-on photo of the front opening and closer views of the mounting area. Mention body repairs, reshaping or previous custom grille hardware.

Does a grille help protect the radiator?

A grille adds a physical barrier in front of the radiator to help intercept road debris. It does not make the radiator damage-proof or guarantee a cooling improvement. Cooling also depends on the radiator, fans, shrouding and the rest of the vehicle.

Where do I find installation instructions?

Use the Cobra-Grille installation guide and the instructions supplied with your kit. Check the application before using any reference dimensions, test-fit the grille and contact us if the mounting arrangement on your car differs.
